Benvenuto Cellini, Crucified Christ

This beautiful bronze was cast by Cellini from the wax model of Christ he made while in prison in the dungeon of the Castel Sant’Angelo, a story he memorably recounts in his autobiography.  It is one of only three sculptures by Cellini still in private hands in the world.
